Double assault on 2004 Championship

Team GVR today rolled out the first of two identical Porsche 968 Club Sports which they are preparing for a double assault on the 2004 Michelin Porsche Club Championship, with drivers Chris Egginton and Peter Morris.

Egginton and Morris look set to be a formidable team to beat next season; both have excellent track records, which coupled with the preparation and development skills of Team GVR puts them in a strong position to take on the 2004 Championship.

The first 968 CS to be completed is that of Peter Morris, which is sponsored by PMCmidlands.com and K. J. Construction. "The car has been transformed, it looks absolutely stunning!" said Morris. "I'm really looking forward to running the 968 next season".

Morris has raced the car once before, immediately after purchasing it from Mike Salmon, for his debut in the Michelin Porsche Club Championship at Donington in November this year. The event brought mixed results. After clutch failure half way through qualifying, Morris had to settle for starting from 6th for the first race of the double-header event; however he was spun out on the first corner. Fortunately the damage was repairable and Morris started the next event from the back. He drove an excellent race and finished a very respectable 5th place, ahead of Championship title contender Tony Brown's 968 CS.

The second 968 CS of Chris Egginton will be completed by the end of February, in time for the pre-season testing schedule.
