Zoechling in Bahrain with technical problems

Christopher Zoechling was suffering from severe technical problems during the free practise for the season's second Speedcar race held this weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit. The 20-year-old Shooting Star only placed eleventh, but wants to fight back in qualifying.

Zoechling experienced an action-loaded, but unfortunate session. Already in lap two his left front rubber exploded and he was lucky to return to the pits. "We changed tires, but the car felt terrible afterwards."

Only after training, the team discovered why - a stretching rod was broken and draggled along all throughout the session. "With such a harmed car it is impossible to set a good lap time", the Dubai-based Austrian was annoyed.

However, Zoechling is not wasting any thoughts on surrender. "After such a performance one cannot be happy. But without the problems I would have been able to place myself in the top five". Thus, the Rookie will be all out on attack in qualifying (10:40 local time): "I will try to find a good setup and the only pit once. Then we will take it from there".

Former F1 ace Heinz-Harald Frentzen was fastest on the day, ahead of Gianni Morbidelli and Jean Alesi. Zoechling's team mate Jacques Villeneuve finished eighth, while fellow-countryman Mathias Lauda did not start.
