RPM Aceleracion Pleased After First Day of Practice for Gua-Sal Finale at El Jabali in El Salvador.
Guatemala City, Guatemala, September 28, 2004---After the first day of practice for this weekend's Gua-Sal finale at the El Jabali Circuit in El Salvador, RPM Aceleracion is confident for a good result. Andrew Alfonso, from Danville, California, spent the day learning the track, dialing in the car and working on set-up in the RPM Aceleracion 2001 Porsche GT3 Cup Car. He recorded a best time of 1:34 with old tires, 3-seconds off last year's pole position.
"Considering the tires and lack of data we had for this track, a 1:34 is a respectable time after the first day," said Alfonso after the test. "I've never driven the track before today, I just spend the day getting comfortable and getting the set up right in time for qualifying," continued Alfonso.
Round two of the annual Gua-Sal will be held on Sunday, October 2nd at El Jabali. Each round consists of two heats, 15 laps long. Gua-Sal is the Guatemala versus El Salvador GT Sports Car race and is considered the most prestigious racing series in Central America. Round one was held in May at the Autodromo Los Volcanes in Guatemala. RPM Aceleracion is currently in second place in the Gua-Sal, having finished second and fourth in the hands of Grease Monkey Racing's Gene Sigal in round one.
