Croydon Bahrain Bound For GT Allcomers Showdown
Popular British race car driver Rob Croydon is preparing for the inaugural GT Allcomers finale race, held in Bahrain at the country's new Grand Prix circuit next weekend (24-26th).
The Kent (UK) based driver will make his debut with Liverpool based Porsche specialists Tech 9 Motorsport, headed up by Phil Hindley.
Speaking about this finale race Croydon commented "Its great to be racing at one of the world's newest Grand Prix venues and I am excited to be driving with Tech 9. They won the British GT championship N-GT class last season and really know their stuff when it comes to running Porsche's. My team mate, Adam Sharpe, is very quick too and I expect to be able to work well with him during the course of the weekend".
Croydon is backed by the World's largest online Music store for Rare records and CD's, Eil.com.
The Allcomers race gathers together cars from the British, French, Spanish and Belgian GT categories.
"I raced in Dubai, not a million miles from Bahrain a few weeks ago in the FIA World GT series, and it was 40 degrees so I need to get used to that kind of heat again. Coming from the UK where it is freezing at the moment, climate change does play its part"
With regard to the race he commented "I think that driving with Tech 9 and Adam we have a very good chance of success. There are actually 48 cars on the official entry list, and the format takes the shape of 3 x 35 minute sprint race s with one driver at a time, and one 1 hour race where we change drivers, much like a normal GT race. All being well we'll enjoy it and learn a lot, and hopefully get a good result to end the season with".
Practice takes place on Wednesday, with Qualifying Thursday and the races themselves on Friday next week.
