Polish Drivers in Konrad Motorsport
Konrad Motorsport will enter two Polish drivers for the 1st edition of Bahrain GT Festival. Max Stanco and Rafal Janus will drive Saleen S7R - one of the quickest cars of FIA GT Championship. Yellow car with chassis number 014 won 8 pole positions in the last two seasons. Race results were not so impressive due to minor technical problems.
Both Max and Rafal plans to take part in next year's FIA GT Championship - as a Polish team entering the same Saleen. Max Stanco is cooperating with Franz Konrad since buying Konrad's Porsche 911 GT2 four years ago. Max won two Polish championships with this car, finished third in Euro GT Series, seventh in GTS class of European Le Mans Series. He entered Porsche in three FIA GT Championship races - finished 8th in GT class at Brno (2002), 9th at Magny-Cours (2002) and Monza (2003).
This year, Max Stanco entered Konrad's Saleen in Polish Championship, winning 9 of 13 races. He was also present at Nurburgring during 1000 km Le Mans Endurance Series round, driving Saleen together with Klaus Abbelen and Paul Knapfield.
Max Stanco is 40 years old from Bielsko-Biala in Beskidy mountains. He started sporting career as an alpine skier, specializing in downhill and giant slalom, competing in the World Cup with Stenmark and Weirather. Then he changed for motocross, won Polish Championship three times and was one of the few Europeans to participate in American Supercross. In 1999 he started a new career in car racing and already in his second season tried to race at international level, driving Alfa in Euro STC series. He also took part in Paris - Dakar Rally, finished 3rd in Toyota Trophy.
Rafal Janus, 30 years old from Cracow, started his racing career only this year after an adventure with kickboxing. He was driving Porsche 911 GT2 in the Polish Championship, winning the Endurance series of 3 hours races. Max Stanco was his co-driver in this events. Rafal learned his new profession in Walter Lechner Racing School, driving Formula Renault cars at Hungaroring, Melk and Brno. He also participates with Porsche in two endurance rounds of the Czech Championship - at Most and Brno.
