De Megni and Pakelo Racing: An Impressive Climb in Hockenheim.
The 4th round of the prestigious Maserati Trophy took place on the German track of Hockenheim this weekend together with the Formula One German Grand Prix.
The huge crowd present had a chance to admire the 24 drivers that competed behind the wheel of the Maserati Coupè Cambiocorsa.
Andre De Megni is without a doubt in the midst of the protagonists of this race on board the VIP car Pakelo Racing. Andrea climbed his way up from an initial 12th place to a final 6th place .For this important climb, De Megni was complimented by everyone on track. An important result that erases the bleak performance in Silvertsone and that puts De Megni amongst the "big" ones of championship. This is a big boost of confidence for the Venetian gentleman driver who is competing in his second season of the Maserati trophy behind the wheel of the VIP car Pakelo Racing , also the official suppliers of the trophy

"After the bleak race in Silverstone, I couldn't wait to find vindication at the next round. I was very motivated and charged in Hockenheim. Right from the start at the free practice session, I had a good feeling with the car and the track. So much so that, I set the same times as those in the front line. Then came the qualifications: as soon as I got on track, I realized that my gearbox had a few problems. Problems that I even made me spin while I was trying to change the gear. I immediately made a pit stop and the Maserati crew tried to reset the control unit in hopes of fixing the inconvenience in the shortest amount of time. But the pit stop made me waste about 20 minutes and with the little time that I had left, I did my utmost to catch up to the rest of them. Unfortunately the problem persisted and this made me finish in 12th place on the grid.
At the end of the session the technicians inspected the car and found that the real problem was the clutch and not the gearbox. For this reason I had to run the race with the test car. Regardless of these problems, I still had faith for the race. At the start of the race, I conquered a few positions by taking advantage of the inside line. Then I keep a good pace and battled with everyone who was ahead of me. I waited for the last useful lap to make the obligatory pit stop and I pushed really hard when I had a free track. This strategy helped me conquer a few positions.
The duel I had with Claudio Buziol was very spectacular in fact after a very vivid battle and by respecting the regulations, I managed to overtake him.
The sixth place finish is very satisfying for me: I could say that if I hadn't had those technical inconveniences during the qualifications on Saturday, I could have fought for the podium. But I'm not that type of guy. Technical problems are a part of the racing world and they can't be used as an excuse. Instead, I'm rather happy with the climb I did and with my performance throughout the weekend. I hope I can get an even better result in Imola on September 5th.
