Montréal, Québec - August 30, 2002 - There's very little doubt that Round 6 of the 2002 FF1600 Hankook/FAQ Championship held this coming week end at the Autodrome St-Eustache will be extremely important for the three drivers currently on top of the point standings. Eighteen-year old rookie Chris Green, the driver of the Olco/DAC Aviation/Bombardier Van Diemen car entered by team Key Motorsport won the first two races of the 2002 schedule, and currently stands third in the standings, eight points behind Olivier Lambert and ten point behind Marc Arsenault.
"I made several small driving mistakes that proved to be costly at the end. However, I know the St-Eustache circuit very well, having tested and raced there numerous times in regional and national Formula Ford series. I've always performed well there," declared Chris Green.
Nineteen-year old rookie Valérie Limoges, the second driver of the Key Motorsport / Metro / John Scotti / Kappa / Proriders car lies ninth in the standings, having finished sixth earlier this season. The young lady who won last year's F125 Québec Karting Championship will need to come to grips quickly with the difficulties of the St-Eustache track. But she has proved in Trois-Rivières (National Series) that she is quick learner, having qualified sixth in Trois-Rivières - a track she had never driven on before.
Sherbrooke, Quebec's Olivier Comeau, the driver of the third Key Motorsport FF1600 car will be starting his first FF1600 race event. Olivier has performed strongly earlier this week in testing despite his lack of experience driving a single seater. In his first laps in the Key Motorsport's Van Diemen, Olivier recorded some 57s laps on the race track of Saint-Eustache. Performance that should allow him to run top 5 next Sunday. In brief, a very promising driver.
Fourth on the points' table, Jacques Gravel, the driver of the #43 Hyundai Tiburon - prepared by Key Motorsport & sponsored by Hankook. Gravel, a veteran in Touring racing captured third place twice this season, picking up valuable points in his quest for title.
"I'm making progress at every race. The car runs very well and I hope to score my first win of the year in Saint-Eustache this weekend," said Gravel.
The second car of the team (#24) will be driven by Eric Kerub.
The 15-lap features will go green Sunday afternoon.
