Jamie Slone Press Release Mosport and Mid Ohio
TUCSON, Arizona -- After a second place finish in Round 1 of the Mustang Challenge at Road Atlanta, Jamie Slone of the Slone Racing #6 GoPro/Molecule Ford Mustang FR500S heads out on a World Tour of back to back race weekends in North America. First up on June 15th is the high speed blind turns of Mosport in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada followed by round 3 at the historic Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio on June 21st.
The first race of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup was a terrific race for Slone as he found the podium for the first time in his pro race career. Slone lead the first lap of the race and finished second under yellow flag conditions when the race was shortened due to multiple accidents.
Round 2 of the series takes place at Mosport along with the Grand Am Koni Challenge GS/ST classes as well as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Dickies 200. The Miller Cup series heads back to the United States for Round 3 at Mid Ohio and is paired up with the Emco Gears Classic Grand Am Daytona Prototype race as well as the Koni Challenge ST class series race. Slone will pull double duty this weekend driving the #62 Roar Racing Mazda RX-8 in the Koni Challenge ST race with co-driver Charles Espenlaub, Mazda Factory driver in the Speed World Challenge and Grand Am Rolex series GT class.
Slone currently sits in second place with 52 points just 5 shy of points leader Andrew Caddell, former 2006 Champion of Spec Miata and runner up in the 2007 Mazda MX-5 Cup. Slone says, "This should be an exciting couple of race weekends and I just hope to be in the hunt as Mosport can make or break your day with all it's high speed blind turns. At Mid Ohio you need to qualify well since passing can be tough. Detroit is not far away and I am sure all the Ford Racing team will be on hand for this new series race so close to home. After this World Tour of North America is over we'll have a good idea of how things are shaping up in the FRMC series."
