Slone wants a piece of "The Rock" in Ford Racing Mustang Challenge
TUCSON, Arizona -- Jamie Slone of the Slone Racing #6 GoPro/Molecule Ford Mustang FR500S is ready for the Lime Rock race in the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge come August 16th. Slone says, "I can't wait to get to The Rock after the fiasco I had at Barber. I got spun on the first lap, lost ABS and had two flat spotted tires before we finished the first turn of lap two. What a humbling day! I am pretty sure we'll have a better showing at Lime Rock."
The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup has been evolving over the series inaugural year and has attracted a big name talent in road racing with the most recent addition of Terry Borcheller to the Stable One team. Terry Borcheller has amassed six pro racing titles, two wins in the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona and a podium finish in the 24 hours of Lemans in France. Slone said, "We are so lucky to have a shot at competing with such an accomplished racer as Terry. I am sure we can learn a lot and if one of us were to finish ahead of him it would truly be the race of a life time!'
Ford Racing Mustang Challenge racers may have their best shot in doing so at Lime Rock on August 16tth. The track has recently undergone some major changes with new curbing, repaving and a number of new experiences for racers. It's a short track with only one long straight and times will be under a minute.
After Lime Rock Round 6 of the Miller Cup will travel to Thunderbolt Raceway at the New Jersey Motorsports Park complex in Millville, NJ. Then the series makes its way to The Miller Motorsports Park in Toole, UT for Rounds 7 & 8, the finale to the 2008 season.
