Another Swiss Triumph Thanks To Trottet and Kessel
The Ferrari of Fassler-Camathias wins another great race in Portimão and take the lead in the overall standings
Third success this season for Peter-Broniszewski in GTS Gião-Couceiro, best among Porsches in front of home crowd
Marcel Fassler and Joel Camathias, with the Trottet Racing Ferrari, took their second win of the year in a closely-fought second race in Portimão, with five cars finishing within 9 seconds. The Swiss pair is the new leader in the overall standings of the series. The best Porsche, the Autorlando one driven by local stars Pedro Couceiro-Manuel Gião, finished second, with the Advanced Ferrari of Marco Cioci-Piergiuseppe Perazzini taking the lats spot in the podium.
The Swiss flag raised to the highest spot also in GTS, thanks to the Kessel Racing, who took first with Philipp Peter-Michal Broniszewski, now strong leaders in the standings. The Aston Martin of Filippi-Wiser, second, completed the good week-end of Villois Racing, ahead of the Corvette of Lagniez-Alexander, again third.
The start sees poleman Lietz keeping the advantage over Pilet, Griffin, Cioci, Fassler, Aguas, Rugolo, Couceiro, Balandras, Peter and Bonetti. While the two Porsche control the situation at the top there is agret battle between Cioci, Fassler and Aguas for fourth, with Fassler emerging and catching Griffin shortly after. The duel between the Irish and the Swiss is superb and lasts for a few laps, until Fassler manages to pass in lap 15, just before the pit stop. Behind, Aguas had passed Cioci, and on lap 12, Pilet ended up in the gravel and retired.
After the driver change, it's Bamford leading ahead of Perazzini, Roda, Garofano, Camathias, Gião and Giammaria. This group will get more and more compact and after Bamford and Garofano will be passed, the remaining five will start an intense fight, finishing the race within 9 seconds. Camathias will emerge as the winner ahead of Gião, Perazzini, Roda and Giammaria.
In GTS, Philipp Peter leads at the start ahead of sister car of Bontempelli (soon obliged to pit with some problem) and the Aston of Wiser. The leading Kessel Ferrari never got threatened, even in the second part of the race when Michal Bronoszewski kept control over the Aston of Filippi, while the other Kessel car of Caccia-Kuzminikh came in third, later diqualified for technical reasons to the advantage of the Corvette of Lagniez-Alexander.
