Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Attracts Strong Entry for Inaugural Race at Road Atlanta
Tooele, UT (14 April 2008)- Long before the racing has even started, things have gotten off to a fast start for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup (FRMC). Series organizers released the preliminary entry list on Monday, with 22 different drivers confirmed to participate in the series' debut race weekend at Road Atlanta on May 3rd.
The 2008 FRMC season will see the series, which features the brand-new Ford Mustang FR500S, do battle at seven of North America's most dynamic race facilities starting with the Road Atlanta event in May and ending with a championship double-header conclusion at Miller Motorsports Park in September.
The brand-new series, which was co-developed by Ford Racing and Miller Motorsports Park, recently announced a partnership with Discovery's HD Theatre that will see the championship story broadcast in 1080i High-Definition in a three hour-long programs focused on delivering the drama of the battle for the Miller Cup. The stout entry list is ratcheting expectations for a highly competitive championship.
"From the moment we announced the creation of the series at SEMA in November, there has been a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding the entire program," said FRMC Series Director Lynda Randall. "To see this many drivers already committed for our first event is really exciting, particularly knowing how many other cars have been purchased or are on order. We have some tremendous partners with Ford Racing, BFGoodrich Tires and Miller Motorsports Park, and they have been instrumental in helping us get to this point. Now, everyone is just looking forward to seeing a field full of Ford Mustangs going racing!"
