SRT MISSES OUT ON A WELL DESERVED VICTORY IN DIJON
DIJON. In the second FFSA meeting of the season, held in the French Burgundy region, SRT had a fair share of bad luck. Both in the first as also second race they missed out on a podium and possibly a victory also. "A collision which led to damage to the car and a flat tyre as we were battling it out for victory on each occasion; that more or less sums up this weekend", is how a disappointed Patrick Selleslagh looked back on this weekend. "The team worked perfectly, the car was most probably one of the fastest of the pack and then to return empty handed is really bitter... I'll need to boost the morale of the troops in the days to come, because we are leaving immediately from Dijon to Adria for the second race of the FIA GT."
In qualifying both SRT drivers, Merafina and Dayraut clocked up the third and fourth place in their respective qualifying series, and taking into account the constant and fast times during the free practice sessions everything appeared to be running smoothly for the Corvette-team based in Merchtem-Belgium.
"But it wasn't to be. During the first series Dayraut was hit several times by a competitor in the battle for first place and this resulted in a damaged tyre some four laps from the finish. At that moment it was over and out for us and we lost out on an excellent ranking", Patrick Selleslagh continued.
"The second race also started off well and we were well in the lead until a tyre blew. Outcome, a fifth place and we once again lost out on an eventual victory and podium."
SRT is now heading off for Adria, for the second FIA GT-race of the season, an exceptional race as the start is being given on Saturday evening just before eight o'clock in the evening.
