MONZA, ITALY, October 20. Lucio Nicolodi and Philip Shearer were named Champions in the North American Ferrari Challenge, following the final two races in the series at Monza, Italy. Nicolodi, from the Ferrari of Beverly Hills team, won the 360 Championship; Shearer, from Ferrari of Long Island, took the 355 title.

In the two races for 360s, Nicolodi placed first in both among the North American entries. Steve Rebeil (Shelton Sport Cars) was second in each, giving him second in the 360 Championship behind Nicolodi. Eddy Aslanian (Scottsdale Ferrari placed third in the first race; Steve Earle (Ferrari of Houston) took third place in the second race. Tony Gaples (Lake Forest Sports Cars) finished fourth; that finish gave Gaples third place in the 360 final standings.

Shearer and Michael Louli (Ferrari of Ontario) were the only North American 355 drivers competing in the finals in Italy. Each won one race, giving Shearer the 355 title ahead of Louli in second.

The North American Ferrari Endurance Challenge, which finished its season in August at Watkins Glen, saw Kevin Crowder (Ferrari of Houston) win the Championship, ahead of teammate Ken Rice and Glen Boros (Ferrari of Washington).
