ERL Urges Participants to Get Entries in For July 9 Event at Road America

SKOKIE, Ill., June 16 - With less than a month remaining before the Endurance Racing League (ERL) stages its inaugural event on Friday, July 9 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., event organizers are urging participants to get their entries in as soon as possible.

Four hours of track time for the featured sports racers class are on the schedule, and the event is expected to be a sell-out. It is open to sports racers in classes C and DSR, Sports 2000, Spec Renault and Spec Racer Ford.

Entry forms may be downloaded off the Internet at www.enduranceracing.org or they can be obtained by calling 1-800-508-2219.

In addition to the two-and-one-half-hour feature race for sports racers, drivers from special-interest clubs (Porsche and BMW clubs and the like) can participate in lapping sessions throughout the day with their own cars.

A dinner and victory party is also planned for Friday night at the elegant Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake to cap the upscale and yet fun program.

Two 45-minute practice/qualifying sessions are planned to set the field for the endurance race. Although one driver may run the entire race, three mandatory pit stops for a minimum of five minutes each will be required during the two-and-one-half-hour race. It is expected that most teams will use at least one additional driver in order to share both the expenses and the experience.

"Racers are looking for all the on-track time that they can get. This blend of extended practice time coupled with the endurance race means that our entrants will get four hours of track time in one day alone," explained Bunny Snively of Adventure Interests Ltd., promoter of the event. "We hope that racers will join us for a full day of racing action on this historic, four-mile road course.

"A two-day road racing event follows on Saturday and Sunday at Road America, so drivers could get even more track time that weekend," Snively suggested.
