Update at 4.45 PM Saturday

Holden's Monaros remain in first and second place as the Bathurst 24-Hour race approaches the end of its third hour.

Steven Richards is first in the 2002-winning 427# Monaro, having completed 53 laps at 4.45 pm.

Greg Murphy is behind the wheel of Monaro 05# in second.

The field resumed racing on lap 40 after 10 laps behind the safety car, which was brought out when the 40# Duller Motorsport BMW from Austria clouted the wall in the Cutting, following a clash with the 7# VIP Porsche.

The safety car period lasted almost an hour. At one stage the rain was so heavy, officials stopped the cars on the track for several minutes. <pre> Outright 1. 427# Monaro Richards/Tander/McConville/Pretty 53 laps 2. 05# Monaro Brock/Bright/Murphy/Kelly 3. 48# Ferrari Brabham/Peter/Montermini/Engelhorn 4. 7# Porsche GT3 Cup Quinn/Quinn/Marshall/Denyer 5. 54# Porsche GT3 Cup Fitzgerald/Teulan/Morris/Shearman
