BATHURST 24-HOUR UPDATE - 17-HOUR REPORT

Cars in the Bathurst 24-Hour race at Mount Panorama completed
17 hours at 9 am today. Weather conditions remain fine and
clear after a cool night.

The Cirtek Motorsport Porsche GT3 RS from Britain remains in
the lead after a faultless run and has completed 376 laps
and 2330 kilometres.

With David Brabham currently at the wheel, the Porsche is
five laps ahead of the Holden Monaro, which lost time around
4.40 am in a collision with the New Zealand BMW of Debbie
Chapman.

The Monaro has been lapping five seconds faster than the
leaders as it tries to make up time. On lap 359, the Monaro
set a record time of 2 min. 14.32 sec., showing that the car
is continuing to run strongly.

Austria's Duller Motorsport BMW M3 has worked itself into
third outright and the Class 10 lead with an impressively
consistent run.

The Mosler MT900T of Britain's Rollcentre Racing is also
running consistently in fourth place, on 361 laps, but the
drivers are having to deal with clutch problems.

In the classes, the BMW M Coupe of Sterling Motorsport is
currently leading Class 3 with 355 laps.

1 Brabham (Cirtek Porsche RS) 383 laps (at 0915)
2 Tander (Monaro) 378 laps
3 Hannen (Duller BMW M3) 365 laps
4 Short (Mosler) 364 laps
5 Wilson (Duller BMW M3) 362 laps
6 Buckingham (BMW M Coupe) 171 laps
