Bathurst confirmed as Final Points Round for Futureracers!

'The Greatest Race of them All,' the Bathurst 24 Hour, will provide a tremendous climax to the inaugural Formula Green Futureracers Series over the weekend of November 19-21, 2004.

Whilst always part of the Futureracers calendar, the Bathurst event was initially to be a non-Championship race, however Futureracers are now happy to announce that it will form the conclusion to the Futureracers season.

Also added to the Futureracers Calendar will be a Special Event in October, at a venue to be confirmed, in support of an additional PROCAR event.

The Futureracers calendar has been revised to reflect the addition of these two rounds at the end of the season, with the first two rounds now non-points paying preliminary rounds.

"By beginning the Futureracers pointscore in June at Winton, we are giving all of our competitors every opportunity to have their cars ready and racing so that they can still have a chance to win the Series by the time Bathurst rolls around," said Futureracers Managing Director, Khaled Al Zubeidy. "The two events that will round out the year are very exciting and we cannot wait to see the growth of our Series."

"Many of our competitors have been held up in preparations through the delay in the finalisation of our CAMS Category Management Agreement, hence the decision to make the first two rounds non-pointscoring rounds. We are happy to say that all matters with CAMS are resolved and we can forge forward."

"If every one of our competitors are in with a shot of winning the title at Bathurst and the Introductory Drive in the Dragon Financial Formula 3 Dallara, then we will be in for one awesome event," Khaled added.

"The two additional rounds, particularly Bathurst and the associated television coverage, which will be extensive by the way, will give our competitors further opportunity to gain exposure and sponsorship, as for many, we will be directly in their local market," Al Zubeidy concluded.

The revised Formula Green Futureracers Series Calendar reads as follows:

Preview Round: April 16-18 Oran Park, NSW (Non-Points)
Preview Round: May 14-16 Sandown Park, Vic (Non-Points)
Round 1: June 18-20 Winton, Vic (Points)
Round 2: July 16-18 Eastern Creek, NSW (Points)
Round 3: August 06-08 Wakefield Park, NSW (Points)
Round 4: September 17-19 Symmons Plains, Tas (Points)
Round 5: October 15-17 Venue TBC (Points)
Round 6: November 19-21 Bathurst, NSW (Final Points Round)
