This Week in Ford Racing
Andrew Caddell, driver of the No. 43 Mustang FR500S, enters this weekend's Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup with a 67-point lead in the standings. Caddell talks about his approach in the season's final two races with the championship almost wrapped up.
YOU'VE GOT A LARGE LEAD IN THE STANDINGS GOING INTO THE FINAL TWO RACES THIS WEEKEND, BUT NOTHING IS WRAPPED UP YET. DO YOU APPROACH THESE RACES ANY DIFFERENTLY? "I'm probably going to go out there and do a lot of what I've done all year, go for the wins. I'm not going to take any extra chances. I'm hoping to come out of the first race where we have it wrapped up for the second race. If I come out of there with a 50-point lead or something like that, it pretty much wraps it up. What we're really focusing on is just getting it wrapped up for the first race so that we can go out there for the second race and just have some fun knowing that after Friday we have it wrapped up. We can go in and hopefully be on the podium still. Hopefully, we can go out and go for another couple wins."
WILL YOUR PREPARATION BE ANY DIFFERENT GOING INTO THIS WEEKEND SINCE THERE WILL BE TWO RACES? "No, it's really not. You've got Saturday off, so you've got a little bit of time. There's not really any different preparation going into them. You can only take one race at a time. You can only worry about the first race and get that one out of the way and then go to the second one. It's just really focusing on the first one and then we'll get up for the second one on Sunday."
HOW IS YOUR EXPERIENCE ON THE TRACK? "I have been around the track. I ran the MX-5 Cup race there last year, so I've gotten a pretty good amount of time around the track. That's one good thing that we have going for us going into this race. It's a long track. It's a hard track to learn being there for your first time. I wish we would have been out there for the series launch, but we didn't even know we were going to run the series until two weeks after the launch."
