Three event series
Following on from the announcement of the 206 Winter Cup, Peugeot Sport are now delighted to announce the events which will take part in the new championship.
The three round Cup will start with the Galloway Hills Rally on Sunday, December 1st. Based in the Scottish town of Newton Stewart, this has been a traditional counter between the Irish and Scottish contingent for many years. The 45 miles of stages used will be taken from the flowing, classic stages of Glentrool, Ae, Drumjohn. The event will be on route notes, with no recce allowed.
The second event will again be on gravel, this time in the very testing stages of mid-Wales. The Red Kite Rally will host another 45 miles of twisty, technical stages in the complexes of Crychan and Halfway. Similar to the stages used in the recent 206 Super Cup round. Notes again will be provided, with no recce. This event takes place on the first weekend into the New Year, Saturday, January, the 5th.
The final counter will head South, to the spectator and PR friendly town of Bournemouth, and the Winter Rally (Saturday 22nd February `03). The Clubmans section will play host to the last round, and again route notes will be provided without recce. This event uses the tank testing grounds at Avon Park, plus some gravel forests round about, as well as the traditional blast through the town centre Winter Gardens. Rick Smith, Clerk of the Course, is delighted to welcome the new championship to his event, and looks set to make this a fitting finale to the three rounds.
The prizes have also been set. £500, £400, £300, £200, and £100 will congratulate the first five finishers on each of the events, while the winner of the 206 Winter Cup will take away £2000 of vouchers from the Peugeot Sport Special Tuning department. He or she will also receive a trophy at the 2003 Peugeot Sport Awards Dinner, and free registration to the 206 Super Cup for the year.
Points will be awarded on the similar basis to the current 206 Super Cup, i.e. 30, 25, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 13, and so on down to 1. The winner will have started all three rounds. No dropped scores, all rounds to count.
