JAGGED EDGE MOTORSPORTS LEADS PIKES PEAK INTERNATIONAL HILLCLIMB AT THE END OF DAY ONE.

The California based rally race team of Sans Thompson and Craig Marr finish the first day of the Pikes Peak International Hill climb in first place with an 18 second lead in the Production class.

This is the 83rd running of the event which makes it the second oldest race in the United States, only race older is the Indy 500. It was marred by the death of a worker on the first day of practice, and has left a subdued event.

"The Dodge Neon is working great" says driver Sans Thompson," Craig and his guys did a great job of getting it ready, getting it re-painted and ready to go. It was really easy to drive and easy to get up to speed in. I kind of blew it on the first stage, missed a shift and had to lock it up to keep from going off at the end of the stage, that cost us quite a bit of time and we ended up second after the first stage. Made me a little angry at myself, this Production Class will run pretty close so getting behind in the beginning can really hurt in the end. I pretty much ignored Craig trying to slow me down on the last stage and we ended up with an 18 second lead. Its still a long race and lots can happen but both Craig and I will sleep a bit better tonight".
