Laughlin,NV- The Rally Series of North America opened its 2003 rally season with two challenging rally events, Rally Quebec February 26-March 3, and Corona Rally Mexico, March 13-15. Competitors endured chilled Canadian winter weather, rallying over winding mountain and the parkland forest roads around Quebec City, where snowdrifts up to six feet high often outlined the course. Only a few days later, Corona Rally Mexico, centered in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico opened with warm weather that quickly climbed to unseasonably high temperatures.
Representatives for Union 76 Racing Fuel, as the Official Fuel Supplier for the Rally Series of North America, admirably faced the weather challenges of both events. Even with the hot weather in Mexico, Union 76 reportedly sold forty-five drums of racing fuel at the Corona Rally Mexico.
There are seven total FIA International Rallies on the Rally Series of North America calendar, with two in Canada, two in Mexico, and three within the United States. The next RSNA event is the Cherokee Trails International Rally May 15-17 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, sanctioned by USAC.
"We are thrilled to have C.L. Bryant Inc./ Union 76 Performance Products as the official fuel supplier for the Rally Series of North America 2003, and look forward to working with Union 76 in the future as our series grows into an Internationally recognized FIA Regional Championship. Union 76 has a long and successful relationship with motorsport in general, and rallying is an excellent venue for their products," says Tom Burgess, Chairman of the Rally series of North America..
The RSNA team of Patrick Richard of Canada and Mikael Johansson of Sweden, felt the brunt of Mother Nature's challenges in both events. With a dynamic effort at Rally Quebec they finished with a first overall Rally Quebec, first in Rally Series of North America, and first in the Canadian Rally Championship in their Subaru WRX, Group N4. Corona Rally Mexico brought them challenges of another sort, as the team worked determinedly to overcome numerous technical difficulties, then finally retired from the event after stage 20 with transmission problems. The team is currently tied for the lead with Marcos Ligato and Ruben Garcia, who took first overall in Corona Rally Mexico and first in Rally Series of North America at that event.
C.L. Bryant Inc./Union 76 Performance Products entered the world of North American rallying as the official racing fuel for the 2002 Ramada Express International Rally in Laughlin, Nevada. The Ramada Express International Rally, scheduled for December 10-14, 2003, is the final event for the Rally Series of North America.
