Another Rostrum For Bird

Penrith rally driver Paul Bird recorded his best ever Manx Rally finish with a superb third place overall on this weekend's Roush Manx Rally.

Driving with the VK Vodka Kick backed SEEMEE.co.uk Ford Focus World Rally Car, Bird and Manx co-driver Andrew Bargery held an impressive second place overnight after five stages in the south of the island, setting fastest time on the tricky Marine Drive test in the process.

But Friday's sunshine gave way to Saturday's mist and rain but the pair overcame the tricky conditions to record their second successive rostrum placing after 120 miles of stages around the Manx lanes.

"I was hoping for a top five finish but a top three is a dream result" said Bird "there's not a mark on the car and we had a perfect run to end up in third place in what was a class field. The best thing is my VK team mate Steve Perez will be buying the drinks tonight seeing as though I beat him again" quipped the MonsterMob Ducati team boss.

Bird's next outing is on next weekend's International Rally of Wales which comprises the second round of the British Rally Championship where he will be looking to improve on his third place finish in last month's Pirelli International Rally based in Gateshead.
