The Kumho National Rally Championship is delighted to announce that Silverstone Rally School will once again support the Kumho National Ladies Cup Award in 2003.
Following on from 2002, female competitors will be able to battle for The National Coupe des Dames Trophy and a cash prize of £250.00 awarded at the end of the season. Co-drivers are not forgotten either, as the National Ladies Champion Co-driver Trophy plus a cash prize of £100.00 will be up for grabs in what is sure to be a hard fought contest.
David Taunt of Silverstone Rally School was delighted to be supporting the awards for the fourth year in succession:
"From Silverstone Rally School's perspective, its very important to encourage and develop female participation in the sport, and particularly within the Kumho National Rally Championship. We run a competition called LadyQuest every year where complete rally novices attend the school to be assessed. We eventually find the ten best and then they compete for a final prize of a fully funded and supported drive in a rally championship.
We're therefore delighted to continue our association with the Kumho National Rally series and its Ladies Championship, and we wish all the competitors the very best of luck for 2003" said David.
The battle begins on February 22nd at the Bournemouth based Rallye Sunseeker. Last year's Champion Sue Hedley from Little Bromley took maximum ladies points on the rally in 2002 on her way to lifting the Coupe des Dames Trophy in her Vauxhall Corsa GSi.
From the tarmac and gravel of the South Coast, the championship switches to the daunting forests of North Wales, before the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Man for flat out closed road tarmac rally action. Three further visits to the forests of Mid and South Wales then follow, with the long journey up north to the forests of southern Scotland thrown in for good measure along the way.
More details on the championship, its rallies and its competitors will be available on the new official website, www.kumhorally.info - to be launched before the Rallye Sunseeker.
