GUIJUELO GRAVEL RALLY
The winning run of the Subaru Rally Team Spain and KRS came to an end in Guijuelo, where the second round of the Spanish Gravel Rally Championship was contested. The rally finished for Brice Tirabassi-Fabrice Gordon's Impreza Prodrive in the midday service park as the team opted to withdraw due to both a leak in the petrol tank that was putting at risk the safety of the crew and because of the additional time lost in the morning sections, which left the French driver without any chance of obtaining a good result.
The rally could not have had a worse start for Brice, who suffered an off road incident on the first special stage, losing nearly a minute and completed the section in 24th position. Later a three minute penalty for a mistake in the total of the route card at the following time control dropped the Subaru further down the classification and, in spite of scoring the third best time on the second stage; it was down to the penultimate position overall after completing the first loop.
In the three following sections, Tirabassi and Gordon continued scoring times among the top five, recovering to 19th position. However after losing time again, now for a puncture, in the last morning stage, the Impreza Prodrive arrived at the mid rally service park with some mechanical damage and with more than six minutes lost to the leaders, therefore the team choose to stop, as it was impossible to reach a good position. It was a sensible decision as it was preferable to conserve the equipment bearing in mind the following date of the championship in Lanzarote that, additionally, is a double header and can be very important in the development of the season.
