Southwest RallyCup Series 2007 Season Update
(Lakewood, Ca.) The series had a great 2005/06 season and a strong final driver's battle between Andrew Sutherland and Doug Chernis for the overall driver championship. Doug won by one point! It was that close! The series would like to thank both of them for their efforts and hope to see them in the competition again this year. The co-driver overall winner was John Dillon. Congratulations to John for your championship win.
For 2007 the series is comprised of 6 Rally America regional events; including the newest event into the series family, the Rally Colorado with its two regional events Middle Cog 1 and Middle Cog 2. Jim Gill, organizer of Rally Colorado is very excited about being included into the series since we wanted to help Jim's event out by bringing more of the Ca/Azans competitors out to this exciting rally. The series will have a regional competitors tow fund of $70.00's to go toward the first seven competitors from the CA./NV./AZ area to enter the Colorado two regional events. There will be updates on this tow fund as we get closer to the event opening registration on the series and event website.

</pre> This series will be in alignment with the Rally America rules and bulletins. Rally America will be the pointskeeper for the series. This series champions will go to the 2007 Regional Cup Championship event at the 100 Acre Wood Rally in February 2008. The top three drivers in EACH class of the region/series will be invited to the championship. There has been a split in the Western Region into the Northwest and the Southwest to encourage a much stronger regional competition. Please read on the Rally- America website the 2007 bulletin regarding the Regional Championship topic.
The series will offer a $300.00 prize fund at each of the series events with $50.00 for each class winner.
Also our partners and sponsors will offer an end of the season contingency fund well over $2500.00's. The series website will have updates on how much first, second and third and overall series winners in driver and co-driver category will be receiving in prize funds but at this time overall will receive $250.00. Let's give a big thank you to Danny Sullivan and George Plsek for their contribution to this contingency fund awards.
Tim O'Neil Rally School will again be giving out again their 4 day school $4000.00 plus gift certificate to a rookie competitor of the 2007 season. This "Rookie of the Year" award will go to the competitor with the most points. Last year's winner was Blake Yoon and he was so thrilled in winning. He is looking forward to this top-rated school.
In all, we should have some exiting prizes, cash and gift certificates to be given out at the series banquet later this year along with the series cup awards. It is going to be an exciting season and good luck to all of the competitors. Hope to see you at the banquet.
