The largest mainland entry in the history of the Saxon Safari will line up to tackle this year's Australian Rally Championship finale, beginning in the centre of Hobart next weekend. Headed by outright rivals Neal Bates and Possum Bourne, the event has attracted over 45 entries from nearly every state in Australia.

The battle for the Championship crown will be the centre of attention over the weekend, however a number of other classes are yet to be decided. In Group N Subaru's Cody Crocker will line up against Mitsubishi's Ed Ordynksi, while in Formula 2 Brett Middleton will be pushing his Honda Civic to the limit in order to bridge the power gap to Simon Evans and his VW Golf 'Kit Car'. Middleton's Group A Civic has only half the horsepower of Evan's 280bhp Golf 'Kit Car'.

Saxon Safari Stages: 13 Special Stages including the unique Super Special Stage at the Derwent Entertainment Centre will be held on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. Also included is the famous Styx Road (29km) which will be run on both days. Total competitive distance is 210km (longest event in the Super Series).
