Tronqueira SS once again decides podium

The second and last leg of the 2002 edition of the Sata Rallye Azores, has witnessed for the first time in three years its victory claimed by a Portuguese driver, Ford Focus Rui Madeira/Fernando Prata, who has been fasting for a win for 15 months.

Rui Madeira P1 (Ford Focus WRC):

"It has been a while since I've won a rally. Right from the beginning I realized it was an opportunity to win, especially since we had a new engine and I had some knowledge of the tracks. I am very satisfied with this result and it a reason of great motivation for the Team since Kremer and I contributed immensely for the Constructors Championship"

Armin Kremer 2P (Ford Focus WRC):

"My performance was stained by the tyre puncture I had on the first day. All I could do was try to recover the best I could and help Ford make the one-two. I hope to return next year and fight for the win. I enjoyed the rally quite a lot and the organization was fantastic"

Miguel Campos 3P (Peugeot 206 WRC):

"I got orders from the team to attack the lead, but at the SS 19 we spun twice and lost some time. Adding to that misfortune, We got a 20s penalty for coming in late to the control due to problems refueling before the SS, and it ended up dictating our final result. However I am still at the lead of the Portuguese Championship with a gap of 22pts. I was a tough rally"
