Star-Studded Field For Bosal Cars in Action Tarmac Challenge
The Bosal Cars in Action Tarmac Challenge catering for race, rally and off-road vehicles at Zwartkops and Gerotek in Pretoria on 26-27 November has attracted a star-studded entry to what now promises to make for a truly spectacular event.
The provisional entry list includes the likes of SA off-road champions Hannes Grobler and Richard Leeke in their Nissan Motorsport Hardbody, rally stars Etienne Lourens and Andre Vermeulen in their Total Toyota Run X and Northern regions champions Charl Wilken and Greg Godrich in their Castrol Toyota Tazz. The fastest entrant so far has to be the Franz/Francois Pretorius Porsche 911 RSR, while 2003 All-Tar Rally winner Michele Lupini and Dave McGregor will be out to steal back their title from a powerful field of rivals in the monster Cars in Action Saab 9-3R.
Other notable entries include Class B Production Car driver Brian Martin and Trevor Graham in the Havoline Toyota Run X, while a pair of same class Mercedes-Benz C270 CDIs will certainly add character. Subaru will be represented by rally men Jose Ferreira and Japie van Niekerk, while a good selection of machinery from all forms of local motorsport will battle it our in the various classes in what promises to be a celebration of top motorsport...
Organisers are confident of several further top names hoping to ready cars in time for a late entry, but they are already confident of a successful weekend's racing based on the high quality of the 38 entries received so far.
The Bosal Cars in Action Tarmac Challenge will start on Friday afternoon 26 September with a prologue stage of 8 laps of the Zwartkops Raceway to determine the running order for the field on Saturday 27 November. Competitors will be up early for the start on Saturday, which takes in a further 8 laps of Zwarkops before heading off to Gerotek for five more stages.
There, a variety of interesting special stages awaits crews, including two shots of the facility's Dynamic Handing Track and the King of the Mountain stage on the demanding Gerotek Ride & Handling Track. Both of those stages, like Zwartkops, will see cars joining into stages of several laps at one-minute intervals.
Two further traditional special stages will complete the Gerotek action, but fans should note that with five stages at Gerotek running off a central service park means that there will be great opportunities to take in the action on each stage. The event will finish at Zwartkops on Saturday afternoon with a final fling around the track during the circuit's end-of-season meeting.
