Peugeot Sport UK help Sykes to tackle the 'Dean.
Stourbridge rally driver Richard Sykes will get the rare chance to pilot a works loaned Peugeot Sport UK car for this weekend's Wyedean Rally, as the Midlander begins his assault on the BTRDA Silkolene Formula 1400 Rally Championship in Chepstow.
The Peugeot one make rally championship stalwart from Blakedown has been unable to source parts to finish his latest Peugeot 106 1400 car for the championship, and approached Peugeot Sport UK at the eleventh hour to see if they could loan him a Peugeot 206 1400, built specially for the new Peugeot Sport 1400 Bonus Scheme.
Peugeot Sport UK Motorsport Manager Mick Linford kindly agreed to loan Sykes the brand new 206 for the 45 stage mile event held within the Forest of Dean, as Richard and his Chelmsford co-driver Mark Andrews look to get as many championship points as possible in the G.I. Sykes Ltd and Trade Paints Services backed machine.
Despite being frustrated at not being able to use his new 106 1400 being built by Racing Services, Sykes is delighted to have the chance of piloting a works built Peugeot for the very first time in his rallying career:
"I'm extremely grateful for Peugeot Sport stepping in at the last minute to help me out. My car just would not have been ready in time, which is a great shame as I was itching to get out in the car. I've been very loyal to Peugeot in the past, and they have repaid that loyalty by loaning me the brand new 206 1400 for the event. It will be good to get some test miles on the car for Peugeot, and I'm sure that the brand new car will be reliable enough to be able to score some hard earned championship points in the process".
