The weather conditions in the Canberra area today claimed many victims, and made a few heroes too!. With rain falling overnight and for much of the morning the crews were faced with the unenviable task of tackling 7 Special Stages without any sort of note crew going through the stages before hand making the job of picking the surface of the course near impossible. With this in mind the day was a hard one for the teams in other ways also.

Katsu Taguchi lead out early with Bourne dropping over a minute on the opening stage with a flat and Neal Bates dropping nearly 20 places after he plunged the front wheels of the Corolla WRCar over a bank 3km into SS1. However Bourne hit back, devastating stage times knocking Taguchi into second place mid-way through the afternoon. "It was incredibly slippery out there today, the toughest conditions I think I have ever driven in!" commented Possum after the days final stage.
