The Vinho da Madeira Rally initiates the National Championship Tarmac events
The most charismatic event of the Portuguese Championship, the Vinho da Madeira Rally, which marks the beginning of the tarmac rallies, registers the presence of some of the best Drivers in Europe, from 29 to 31 of July. Gustavo Louro and Tiago Azevedo, at the wheals of a Mitsubishi Evo VI, ambition to finish in a good position amongst the N Group and gather points for the Championship.
With the car reviewed and prepared to attack the mythic race at the Pearl of the Atlantic, the winner of the Azores Rally Championship of 2003, is prepared to face the strong list of adversaries present: "Being the best event of the year at our Country, the Madeira Rally gathers a very strong list of opponents, making a victory something very difficult to aspire. Taking under consideration the bad luck that we have suffered at National Rallies so far, one of our main goals is to finish the race. If at the Azores, a gravel event, the Mitsubishi had characteristics to lead, at Madeira that type of performance is very complicated. We will give our best, taking under consideration the limitations that we have, and hope that everything turns out well".
Gustavo Louro and Tiago Azevedo are prepared to attack right from the Super Especial Stage: "The Vinho da Madeira Rally has some excellent national and international Drivers, and our goals amongst the N Group are to give our best so that we may manage to obtain a good result and insure as many points as possible for the Championship." Stated the driver that is currently trying to attain the fifth Azores Rally Championship Title.
The Vinho da Madeira Rally, held next weekend, will have 20 qualifying stages, with a total of 292 kilometres, divided in two days. The Rally starts Thursday with a "Super especial Stage" of 2, 18 km at 19h30, followed by 10 Stages on Friday and 9 Special Stages on Saturday.
