TMN Rally de Portugal was a positive operation for the National Championship.

The overall balance of the TMN Rally de Portugal for the Portuguese pair, Miguel Campos and Carlos Magalhães, was quite positive, having scored the third position overall, and having been declared the Best Portuguese Team, running against former world champ, Didier Auriol (winner) and Andrea Aghini (second). Campos (25 pts), along with Peugeot (24 pts), increased their point advantage in the Championship, standing alone in the lead.

Merely realizing their third gravel rally at the wheel of the 206 WRC of the Peugeot Total Silver Team SG, Miguel Campos and co-driver, Carlos Magalhães fought the second position for moments, when overcoming Rui Madeira an Andrea Aghini in the morning stages: "We were able to make good times that put leading the Portuguese pack. But, before lunch break, we lost a position when we went straight on two muddy corners, giving Aghini the opportunity to take over" Explained National Championship leader.

During the second time around, Campos made a wrong choice of tyers, and was unable to fight Agnini, having to chose a different strategy: "I was in a great position to score 6 more points, so I wasn't necessary to risk. As foreseen, Didier Auriol ran a different rally, benefiting from his vast experience on tough and slippery grounds, as where the conditions found in Macedo de Cavaleiros", remarked Campos, who ran the last stage with worn-out tyer, demanding a greater amount of caution in his driving.
