The aim is to increase the list of honours; Miguel Campos wants to repeat his victory in the Algarve Rally.
Miguel Campos of the Peugeot Total Silver Team SG, who already has 50 consecutive rallies to his credit with no withdrawals, 16 consecutive "top three" slots, seven outright wins and 70 special placings in this season (66%), expects, together with Carlos Magalhães to further increase his magnificent list of honours in the Rally Algarve, next weekend on the 1st and 2nd of November. A race which the duo of virtual National Rally Champions already won last season. Besides this, Peugeot's three victories in this race, including the double last year, is another reason for Miguel Campos' optimism for this ninth race on the calendar of Portugal Rallys, even though the race has a few new features this time.
"As it is a race with new stretches, there are always some unknown factors. The rally will be held, for the first time, in the region of Monchique. Nevertheless, it is not because of this that we are less optimistic", the virtual National Rally Champion for 2002 began by saying in high spirits.
"We are optimistic about this rally. Now that we have the title guaranteed, our aim is to further increase the list of honours achieved with the Peugeot 206 WRC", states Miguel Campos bent on finishing the year with maximum points.
"We race to win. We have been on the podium for the last 16 consecutive races and that is exactly what we want to do up until the end of the year. We have a good car, which has withstood all the races without problems and which has brought us many moments of joy, so there is no reason why the Algarve should be different. I will get to Monchique with almost 2000 days since my last withdrawal and I want to continue to increase this magnificent run", concluded Miguel Campos who has been unstoppable this year.
Carlos Barros, director for the Peugeot Total Silver Team SG, also seemed quite optimistic even though this years version of the Algarve Rally has new features. "The 206 WRC is very good, we only need to know which set up we will use, as this year the rally will be held in the Monchique region, which is something new. Only after performing our reconnaissance and during the Shake-down will we be able to make the final adjustments. As always, our objective is to win and increase our list of honours, just because we are already Champions does not mean that we will behave differently", states Carlos Barros proud of his team's magnificent list of results this season.
