Motorsport enthusiasts will be in for a rare treat at the Bankfin Off-Road Expo during the Auto Africa exhibition at Nasrec from October 23 to 27.
A wide variety of exotic machinery competing in this year's Bankfin Off-Road Championship will be on display. Also on show will be a variety of circuit racing cars, motorcycles and quads and powerboats - with the Bankfin Off-Road Expo in a prime viewing location in the amphitheatre at the main public entrance at Gates 3 and 4.
A number of factory and privateer vehicles campaigning in the Production Vehicle category will be on view. These include a variety of Toyota Motorsport entrants, a works Nissan Hardbody Class D entry, the new Lada team, a variety of Land Rovers including Cliff Barker and Marius Boersma's class T machines, the Playstation Mitsubishi Pajero of privateer Henri and Maurice Zermatten and two N1 4x4 vehicles.
The Special Vehicle brigade will also be heavily represented. Among vehicles on display will be Giel Nel's Class B championship winning Luk Africa Truggy, one Nashua Mobile Racing vehicle and enduro motorcycle, the locally designed and built BAT which utilises a Nissan V6 powerplant and sundry Raceco, Sandmaster and Mighty Mag entries.
In a bold move the O'Hagan's/Kopanong Hotel Superteam will also prepare on site two of its vehicles, the BMW Jimco and Jeep, which will compete in the Queen Motor Spares Tarka 400 in the Eastern Cape on November 1 and 2. The event is the penultimate round of this year's championship, sponsored by Bankfin, the specialist vehicle finance division of ABSA Bank.
"We are a professional team and preparing the cars at the Expo will provide enthusiasts with an interactive experience," said team manager Simon Clegg.
On the product side there will also be plenty for the enthusiast. Among the exhibitors will be Chicago Pneumatic, Atlas Copco, Afrox and Goodyear.
Other displays include Johannesburg Yamaha off-road motorcycle and quad entrants in the national series, SA Production Cars, Formula Vee's, Formula Gti's, Vodacom Sport Prototypes, rally cars, SASCAR's and Formula 1 powerboats. In addition South African trials champion Brian Capper will present the Nashua Mobile Extreme Trials show on October 23 and 24.
"The Bankfin Off-Road Expo will be one of the highlights of Auto Africa," said co-ordinator Arthur Abraham. "The Bankfin Off Road Championship is hugely competitive with the biggest concentration of manufacturers of any racing championship in the country.
"The Expo provides fans with the opportunity of seeing some fabulous machinery, and will allow enthusiasts to rub shoulders with leading drivers and technical crew."
