Awards for top journalists.

The MSA Off-Road Car Racing Commission has honoured three journalists for their work during the 2002 Bankfin Off-Road Championship.

Elza Thiart from Wiel magazine, Andre de Kock from The Citizen and Danie van Jaarsveld from Motorpics / Motornews were each presented with a "Big Five" bronze sculpture by well known South African sculptor Arend Eloff. In addition Ms Thiart won a trip to the start of Dakar 2003.

Ms Thiart won the Magazine category, de Kock the Print category and van Jaarsveld the Electronic category. The awards to the three were made at the prize giving following the Carnival City Casino 400, the last event of the season, with the prizes courtesy of Nissan.

"The media has given us tremendous support throughout the year, and the awards recognised special efforts made by Thiart, de Kock and van Jaarsveld throughout the season," said MSA Off-Road Car Racing Commission president Piet Swanepoel.
