Interwetten Racing Team completes four problem-free runs at the shakedown of the "34th Rally Islas Canarias"
Franz Wittmann/Klaus Wicha said pre-dated thank to the spectators with spectacular drifts
With the shakedown, Franz Wittmann and Klaus Wicha (Peugeot 207 S2000) have passed the first assignment within the "34th Rally Islas de Canarias" with flying colours. The Interwetten Racing-duo completed four turns on the 2,5 kilometres long course and was very satisfied afterwards. As well as the hundreds of spectators that found their way to the shakedown on Thursday. For, as the only driver among the S2000 elite, Franz Wittmann excited the fans with spectacular drifts which they in turn applauded enthusiastically.
Wittmann: "The shakedown course has little in common with the special stages on Friday and Saturday. Therefore we focused on getting the right feeling for the tarmac and on entertaining the people along the course. I'm sure that they now will support us during the coming two days."
This meant ninth-best achieved time in the unofficial result of the shakedown. 3,6 seconds short of the fastest man of the day, Brit Kris Meeke (Peugeot 207 S2000). But Wittmann doesn't worry about that too much since the Lower Austrian knows where he still can gain one or more seconds.
"Our setup isn't yet perfect for the conditions here in Spain. We've been working on it and I am very confident that we will manage it still on Thursday afternoon. In any case, I am really looking forward to the first kilometres on Friday. Even though it might take one or two special stages before we find the right rhythm", explains the Interwetten-Racing driver.
