From now on the Interwetten Racing Team sets eyes on succsessful second half of season
Franz Wittmann/ Klaus Wicha will compete in WRC Rally in Germany for tarmac testing and one week later in IRC's Barum Rally in Zlin, also held on tarmac
This schedule is meant as preparation for a possible 2011 IRC season
Since this year's IRC assignment of the Interwetten Racing Team with Franz Wittmann/ Klaus Wicha in the Peugeot 207 S2000 hasn't been satisfying so far due to the retirements by accident in Monte Carlo, Grand Canary and Sardinia and the subsequent absence from Ypres and the Azores, the responsible persons have assembled to talk and developed a plan B for the remainder of the season.
The Interwetten duo Franz Wittmann/ Klaus Wicha will now take part in the World Championship run ADAC Rally Germany from August 19 to 22, 2010.
Wittmann: "This WRC run in the area of Trier features only tarmac surface. This is an important preparation for me for the next IRC run, the Barum Rally, which will take place around the Czech town of Zlin from August 26 to 29. The important fact hereby for me is to be able to do extensive testing on tarmac with our ROMO-Team of Ronny Leschhorn and the Peugeot 207 S2000 for one day prior to the run in Germany. This schedule is not only important for the Germany- assignment but mainly for our participation in the Barum Rally."
There obviously remains a risk concerning this schedule. The rally in Germany finishes on Sunday and the Barum Rally in Zlin commences only four days later.
Team chief executive Leschhorn: "We naturally hope that Franz will get the car across the finishing line in Germany undamaged and thereby will gather a lot of important testing kilometres. After all, he feels at home in Germany since he already won the National Championship Rally Vogelsberg this year. A further advantage is the fact that our factory, the city of Trier and the Barum Rally are not too far apart. Thus it would even be possible to get a grip on arising problems in time."
Should these two assignments prove to be succsessful one ponders to have Franz Wittmann/ Klaus Wicha also compete in the IRC runs in San Remo and on Cyprus.
Interwetten chief executive Wolfgang Fabian on this: "Since the ship has sailed for Franz in this year's IRC season I think that this schedule is sensible and financially affordable regarding a possbile next IRC season."
