FUTURE WORLD - Golden Tulip Rally (September 17-18th 2004)
Second win outside of Belgium for Tsjoen
In Nijverdal (NL), Pieter Tsjoen and Eddy Chevaillier have ended an unlucky period made of three retirements due to went off (Ypres Westhoek Rally) and technical failure (ADAC Deutschland Rally and Omloop van Vlaanderen). Their Toyota Corolla WRC tuned by Future World met no opposition and won the Golden Tulip Rally, the most prestigious round of the Dutch Rally Championship. Tsjoen extends his Benelux Rally Trophy leadership.
Competing against six others WRC cars, Tsjoen pushed hard and won all special stages (20). One of them - SS3 - was cancelled due to a time registering problem. Home driver Wevers (Corolla WRC) has to cope with the strong start of the Dane Poulsen (Corolla WRC), who retired after SS3 (clutch). The Dutchman took the second place overall but left his Dutch crown to van den Heuvel (Lancer Evo VII), winner of the Group N category. Arthurs (Accent WRC) and Biggerstaff (Impreza WRC) have to retired as White (Impreza WRC S9) did it during SS15 despite running with a brand new Impreza WRC "2003". Braniff hauled his Accent WRC to the 21st overall classification.
-"For the second time this year, Pieter and Eddy have signed a perfect performance outside of Belgium, said Future World team Principal Gérard Magniette. They've defeated all the Dutch contenders as they did it, three months ago, running the Saarland Rally with a Super 1600 car. Now, we've have to concentrate on the next Belgian event, where Pieter has to clinch his third Belgian title. and where we want to celebrate the fifth crown in a row for Future World !"
The Haspengouw Rally (October 10th), round 8 of the Belgian Rally Championship, will take place in Landen.
