Another podium for Ford driver Jaromir Tarabus
Czech Ford Rally Team with the crew of Jaromir Tarabus and Daniel Trunkat claimed their second consecutive podium in Czech Rally Championship, making good on their promise to be a podium contenders in 2010.
Jaromir Tarabus acquired the Top 3 position already after finishing SS1 of Rally Sumava, the second round of Czech Rally Championship, and remained it until the first service halt following four super stages. In the second loop of super stages, which were partly run after dark, Tarabus closely fought for the third position with Vaclav Pech, the multiple Czech Rally Championship winner. Well, Tarabus could succeed. He finished the first leg of Rally Sumava in the third position following the leader Pavel Valousek and the runner- up Roman Kresta, and followed by Vaclav Pech occupying the fourth position.
The second leg of Rally Sumava brought two interesting and quite separate battles. While Pavel Valousek and Roman Kresta fought for the winning, Jaromir Tarabus and Vaclav Pech were focused to achieve the third position. Unfortunately, neither Tarabus nor Pech, couldn't fully concentrate on their achievements in the super stages. Both rivals suffered from technical problems. Actually due to technical problems Tarabus was late to a service halt and received a 50sec penalty. In the penultimate service Czech Ford Rally Team was very busy to prepare its Ford Fiesta S2000 for the last and crucial loop of super stages. Then, despite persistent technical problems Jaromir Tarabus co-driven by Daniel Trunkat could keep the third position until the rally finish. They claimed their second podium in their second rally with the brand new Ford Fiesta S2000.
Jaromir Tarabus, Czech Ford Rally Team's driver: "I am aware of three moments, which fortunately had no serious consequences. However, after faultless first Czech Rally Championship round, this time we suffered from technical problems. On Saturday morning we have been solving problems with the cardan, then with the alternator and the V-belt. It was little bit bothering. But we finished Rally Sumava in the third position, so we are happy with the result. It would be better, if we and our rivals didn't have any problems, and if we could fight rather in super stages then in a service halts. But even so it was a nice rally. We achieved second consecutive podium and we are happy."
Jaromir Tarabus currently holds third place in Czech Rally Championship rankings. After two from seven rounds the leader is Pavel Valousek (93 points), followed by Vaclav Pech (55 points) and Jaromir Tarabus (46 points).
Jaromir Tarabus's and Daniel Trunkat's next outing under the guise of Czech Ford Rally Team will be Rally Cesky Krumlov, the third Czech Rally Championship round (May 20/22).
