Toyota’s Neal Bates has taken a stunning win in less than favourable conditions on the first Heat of the AussieDuct Rally of Melbourne. Bates pulled clear of rival Possum Bourne early in the day before Bourne mounted a determined charge back, however Bourne was unable to match the Corolla WRCar over the day’s final 3 stages, Bates eventually winning by 17 seconds.

In Group N Cody Crocker blitzed the field, scoring an easy victory on his home event. Crocker lead home a packed Group N field lead by Mitsubishi rival Ed Ordynski, the South Australian unable to match the pace of the Subaru Impreza WRX of Crocker, trailing more than a minute behind.
