There has been an amendment to this year's Bankfin Off-Road Championship.

The MSA Off-Road Car Racing Commission has announced that the Lichtenburg 400, the penultimate event in this year's series, has been moved to November 1 and 2.

Originally scheduled for October 25 and 26, the Lichtenburg race has been put back a week to coincide with the Diamond Festival in the North West Province.

"Date changes when the season is well underway are normally to be avoided, but in this case we felt it would be justified," said MSA Off-Road Commission president Piet Swanepoel. "The Diamond Festival is a major event in the North West Province, and we felt the change in date would be a major boost for both the event and the town.

"There will be an influx of people in the region for the Diamond Festival, and the commission was of the opinion that from a marketing point of view everyone connected with the sport would benefit from the change."

Competitors will also benefit in that they will have more time after the Moreca Caledon 400 to prepare their vehicles for the Lichtenburg 400.

The revised calendar is as follows:
June 21 to 23 -- Toyota 1000 Desert Race
July 26 and 27 -- O'Hagan's/Kopanong Hotel Mmabatho 500
August 23 and 24 - Mpumalanga 400
September 27 and 28 -- Moreca Caledon 400
November 1 and 2 -- Lichtenburg 400
November 29 and 30 -- Carnival City Casino 400
