ANCRO appoint new Media Co-Ordinator for 2003.
The Association of National Championship Rally Organisers (ANCRO) have announced that Jamie Edwards has been appointed National Media Co-Ordinator for the 2003 Kumho National Rally Championship.
The new role will concentrate on improving championship communications to the media, the competitors, and the rally spectators alike. The role has also been created to jointly promote the name of Kumho Tyres with assistance from the title sponsor's own marketing team. Edwards will start work immediately on a number of key areas where the organisers felt that more creative input was required in order to promote the series in 2003.
A new dedicated Kumho National Rally Championship website will arrive on computer screens before the first round of the Clubman championship, the Kall Kwik Rally on 16th February. The website will contain details on all rallies, up to date news and information on events and competitors, and will also carry a full event preview and report with images from each rally. Spectator information is also included, and Edwards is currently exploring ways in which spectators can access rally information while on the stages.
Aside from the website, Edwards will also concentrate on building better links with the sporting press, whilst also trying to develop the interest from local media on events. Jamie will work closely with the existing Rally Press Officer's from the championship events to maximise the coverage for the series.
Speaking after the appointment was made, Edwards was delighted to have been chosen for the exciting new role:
"I'm extremely pleased to have accepted this important position within the excellent Kumho National Rally Championship. Great organisation and great events have made the series highly respected within the UK and Ireland, but in the past communication was not always as clear as it could be. The organisers of the series realised that this was an area they could improve on and I'm looking forward to getting to work on things straight away.
The aims are simple. I'm going to implement a strategy that will allow anyone associated with the championship to access the information they require easily, and in the process improving the profile of the series further by building strong links with the professional media during the year. The championship is in excellent shape at the moment and I hope that my input for 2003 will be of major benefit to competitors, marshals, organisers, the media and fans alike."
27 year old Edwards is the founder of the JemSport PR company that specialises in motorsport and rally PR. Recent successes have included winning the British Rally Championship in 2002 with Jonny Milner. Edwards was also instrumental in the development of highly popular UK rally website www.britishrally.co.uk, one of the most popular sites devoted to the sport. The company is based in Wrexham, North Wales.
