SEBRING, Fla. (March 14, 2003) -- SCCA Pro Racing Ltd. announced today the addition of Road America and a second date at Road Atlanta to the SCCA Speed World Challenge 2003 season schedule.

The series, which runs its penultimate round at Road Atlanta in October as part of the Petit Le Mans weekend, will also join the American Le Mans Series on the new Atlanta Grand Prix weekend, June 27-29. The date replaces the Washington, D.C. event, which was cancelled last week.

Following the cancellation of Champ Car's Road America event, the series has added the August 22-24 American Le Mans Series Road America event to the schedule. Both the Atlanta Grand Prix and Road America events will be singe race weekends for the SCCA Speed GT and Touring Car Championships, bringing the season total back up to 10 and nine, respectively.

"Obviously, having two race weekends cancelled over three days put us in a difficult situation to say the least," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager. "We're happy to say Road America will remain on the schedule as a venue, and are excited about going to Atlanta again, which always provides such outstanding racing. We'd like to thank both tracks for working with us to make sure our season is a successful one."

The SCCA Speed World Challenge began its season today, March 14, as part of the Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
