Team NayKid Racing debuted the new West Coast Corvettes DRM C500R in the Speedvsion GT contest at Mosport, Canada, scoring a top ten finish in its first outing. The Corvette's striking appearance turned heads and camera lenses wherever it went. Team own/driver Scotty B. White couldn't be more pleased.

"The car is so beautiful, I just want to park it and stare at it," quipped White. " I couldn't wait to get it on the track. Doug Rippie did a phenomenal job building this car. It was strong right out of the box."

A suspension part supply snag proved to be the biggest adversary for Team Naykid. Mosport is well known for vast differences in corners and surface conditions, so suspension setup is critical. Doug Rippie and the Team Naykid crew worked tirelessly to maximize the existing configuration. In spite of this hiccup, White charged from 13th to an eighth place finish.

"We had a solid start," explained Scotty. "I knew the setup was a long ways off, through no fault of the crew. I concentrated on staying smart and driving a smart race. Even so, I ran with the lead pack. Midway through the race, I was right behind Derek Bell and harassed him for 10 laps."

White feels that they will be ready for Lime Rock Park. The track conditions will be more favorable to the DRM C500R's current trim. The traditional Memorial Day weekend event is next on the schedule, May 26-29, 2000. http://www.NayKidracing.com
