Atlanta. GA -- On the heels of its freshman year success, Team FBR / Trans Sport will once again return to Speed World Challenge competition with the now battle-tested IS 300. Leading the charge for FBR / Trans Sport will be sportscar ace, Mike Fitzgerald, who will also compete in the GT Class with 3R Racing. Mike joins rookie-of-the-year hopefuls, Tim Pappas (team owner) and Mike Van Sicklen, as well as the talented FBR / Trans Sport crew led by Thomas Blam, Franz Blam, and Jim Bell.
The team is especially excited about the addition of its newest driver, Mike Van Sicklen. Mike has spent several years racing in the Grand Am Cup Series, winning the ST Class Team Championship in 2000 and supporting Bob Endicott as his co-driver as Bob won the Driver's Championship in 2001. Mike will join the FBR / Trans Sport crew and drivers who have now been together for three years of showroom stock and World Challenge racing.
In preparation for what will be the most competitive racing series in America, Franz Blam Racing, TRD, and Aasco Performance of Anaheim, CA have put their decades of collective experience together on behalf of the team to refine all aspects of the IS 300, in an effort to win the 2003 Speed World Challenge Touring Car Championship. Team FBR / Trans Sport owner Tim Pappas had this to say, "2002 was a learning experience for all of us. We had some great races and some disasters, but for the most part we came away feeling good about our accomplishments. But 2003 is different. 2003 is not a building year; it's a year to come out guns blazing, ready to take on the best in the field. In 2003, we can't say that we're new or just getting up to speed, we need results. I'll be disappointed if we aren't competitive from the word go, but at the same time, I'm really looking forward to racing with everyone again, no matter where we finish."
Team FBR / Trans Sport is proud to announce their continued relationships with: BG Products, Inc., makers of performance lubricants, BBS Wheels, and Toyota Racing Development.
