Henzler Impressive in St. Petersburg Speed GT
Wolf Henzler, battled from the back of the pack to finish in 5th place in the second round of the Speed World Challenge GT. Henzler once again made his presence known in the Applied Materials Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche GT3 Cup. In a race marred by numerous yellow flag periods, Henzler's number 55 was penalized with a stop-and-go penalty for moving out of line during the first restart. Unlike the Porsche Super Cup series where Henzler is the reigning champion, Speed GT rules require the cars to maintain a straight line prior to the green flag on a restart. While Henzler did not improve his position, he did move temporarily out of line before the green. The penalty forced Henzler back to 21st position on the tight street circuit. With 11 of the 30 laps run under yellow, Henzler had limited opportunities to work his way through the field which makes his 5th place finish all the more impressive. Said Henzler, "While I am disappointed I did not finish higher for the team and our sponsors, I am glad we could get back in the points."
Henzler started from the pole after putting down the fastest qualifying speed on Saturday, turning the only lap under 1:19 seconds. After the race, Henzler received the B&M Oil Coolers Coolest Move award for his skillful pass on Phil McClure on lap 25. With Henzler in the thick of the championship battle, the series next heads to Road Atlanta for the Grand Prix of Atlanta, April 15-17.
The St. Petersburg Speed World Challenge GT race will be televised on Speed Channel, Sunday, April 10th at 2pm EST. Farnbacher Loles Racing is based out of Danbury, CT.
