APR Motorsport Powers Todd Buras to VW's 2 Inaugural World Challenge Wins
St. Petersburg, FL: Using several components and engine calibrations created by APR Motorsport, Todd Buras was able to take his VW Jetta, prepared by Irish Mike's Racing, to victory lane in both rounds of the World Challenge Touring Car event in St. Petersburg, FL this past weekend. These wins are the first ever in the World Challenge series for a VW, Irish Mike's Racing and APR Motorsport.
Being the first and longest standing team worldwide to develop VW's newest car chassis' and gasoline power trains for competitive racing, APR Motorsport was able to provide specialized hardware and ECU calibrations for Irish Mike's Racing's Mk5 chassis Jetta. "The team at Irish Mike's has done a great job of utilizing the solutions we manufacture specifically for motorsports." said Jeff Mishtawy, Director of Motorsport for APR. APR Motorsport is a division of APR, LLC., a world renowned Volkswagen Automotive Group performance enhancing engineering firm.
Irish Mike's Racing's entries in Grand Am, where APR Motorsport has proven their motorsport product line for late model VW cars with multiple wins, podiums, front row qualifyings and a slew of other accolades in the series, has proven an extremely valuable partnership for both teams. After a two year hiatus from World Challenge during their time spent with APR Motorsport in Grand Am, their return yielded an incredible double win in their first entry.
APR Motorsport and Irish Mike's Racing are headed to Barber Motorsport Park on April 10th for their next Grand Am race where APR Motorsport will unveil their new MK6 chassis VW GTi race car. APR Motorsport dominated at Barber last season with components later used by Buras and Irish Mike's to win last weekend's World Challenge race.
