The Pursuit of Perfection Has Its Speed Bumps

Sebring, FL (March 21, 2009) - Sometimes things don't go as you plan, and you have to learn from the experience and move on to better days. Randy and his K-PAX/3R Racing team came to Sebring International Raceway to introduce their new Volvo S60 race cars and begin to defend Randy's SPEED World Challenge GT Championship. Although the cars had tested the week before and ran well, something just wasn't quite right at Sebring, forcing Randy to be a spectator for the race. The good news was that new teammate Andy Pilgrim did make the race and finished twelfth, gaining important information for the next race in Long Beach, CA.

"With a new car, sometimes stuff like this happens. Our Volvos are brand new and we knew they would need some testing and adjustment. We came to Sebring to support the series and continue the process of getting the cars ready to win. Our Volvos were beautifully built by 3R Racing. The engine builders at Mahle are working very hard to get the engines perfect and they are close but they need a little more time. This is all part of the process of creating a new race car."

"My new teammate Andy Pilgrim did a great job and gained valuable data for our continued development of the Volvo. It is a tribute to the team that our cars exist and made it to Sebring. The Volvos are very good looking and were well received by the crowds. They are fabulous pieces of machinery and it is a great credit to K-PAX/3R Racing. The guys at the shop put in many long hours and made a lot of sacrifices which will pay off at Long Beach and further into the season. It has truly been a dedicated effort and we realize that new cars take time to get sorted out. We are looking forward to Long Beach, will be doing more testing and will continue to improve all season."

"I really enjoyed working with Andy Pilgrim and would like to welcome him to our team. He's a great guy. I would also like to thank my personal sponsors Team Janica Racing, WeatherTech, Prairie Hills Motorsport Club, ChaseCam, and saferacer.com for their continued support."

The SPEED World Challenge GT race from Sebring will be broadcast shortly on SPEED although no date and time have been announced. I will try to update Randy's website when the information is available. Randy's next race will be on the streets of Long Beach, CA on April 19. The next action for the Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge will be May 2 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
