STaSIS Ready for Continued Success at Infineon
Team Excited to Race at Home Track
Sonoma, California (June 21, 2006) STaSIS Motorsports is geared up for a fast weekend at its home track at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Racing just down the hill from their corporate offices the team looks to continue the success from Chip Herr's first place finish at Mid Ohio in his #17 STaSIS Clear Capital Audi A4. Herr is tied for 3rd place for the Driver's Championship with 75 points.
This race marks the first for STaSIS racing on the same weekend as NASCAR and has added challenges. The schedule is tight with less practice and shorter qualifying time than usual. Additionally, the Touring Car qualifying and race are only five hours apart. Team owner Paul Lambert commented, "Hopefully our familiarity with Infineon Raceway will help us with the abbreviated practice and qualifying schedule."
STaSIS rookie Jeff Courtney looks to extend his lead in the rookie of the year standings this weekend. Last race at Mid Ohio Courtney was named the Piloti Rookie of the Race for his strong 4th place finish in his #99 STaSIS Kenda/MPI Coin/KaravanTrailer Audi A4.
"Fast" Freddy Baker comes west from Ohio to drive his #18 STaSIS Fred Baker Audi A4. Baker set the fastest lap of the race at Mid Ohio and looks to be fast at Infineon as well. This will be Baker's last race in the B5 chassis Audi as he will join Herr and Courtney with a new B7 chassis Audi A4 at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah next month July 13th -15th.
This Saturday June 24th will be a busy day for both drivers and crew with qualifying at 10:25AM and the race at 3:30PM. The 2006 Infineon Raceway SPEED World Challenge Touring Car race can be seen on SPEED TV Saturday, July 8th at 3:00PM EDT.
