Herr Fights His Way Through the Field to Finish 11th
Mechanical Failure Starts Herr at the Back of the Grid

Sonoma, California (June 24, 2006) STaSIS Motorsports raced in their backyard at the 2006 Infineon SPEED World Challenge Round Four in Sonoma, California. The STaSIS Audi A4 cars finished in 11th, 13th and 14th positions after a weekend of abbreviated practice, qualifying and racing.

After qualifying things looked promising for Chip Herr in his STaSIS Clear Capital #17 Audi A4 with the 7th fastest time, but things took a turn for the worse just hours before the race. Due to Herr's success last race at Mid Ohio the specification for his Audi A4 was changed beyond the rule required rewards weight. STaSIS engineers along with world class engine manufacturer Mahle Powertrain (formerly Cosworth Technologies) worked diligently to meet the new restrictions, but with the shortened format during NASCAR weekend were unable to fully implement and test the modifications. As the STaSIS crew was putting the final touches on the cars news arrived that a mechanical failure had caused the boost levels on Herr's #17 car to sporadically exceed the newly regulated specifications during qualification. Due to this mechanical failure Herr was regulated to the back of the grid.

Although disappointed Herr took the ruling in stride, "I really felt good about starting in the 4th row and thought I could battle for a podium from there. It is unfortunate for our great new sponsor Clear Capital. In their premier race I wanted to showcase them in their home market by running near the front, but all I can do is drive and I think making up the most positions (15) of any driver shows what we can do." Herr's 11th place finish put him in 4th overall in driver points with 90 points.

STaSIS rookie Jeff Courtney maintained his lead in the rookie of the year standings finishing 13th in his #99 STaSIS Kenda/MPI Coin/KaravanTrailer Audi A4 after starting in 15th position on the grid. Courtney is 8th overall in driver points.

"Fast" Freddy Baker started is #18 STaSIS Fred Baker Audi A4 in 16th position and moved up 2 positions to finish in 14th. This was Baker's last race in the B5 chassis Audi as he will join Herr and Courtney with a new B7 chassis Audi A4 at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah next month July 13th -15th.
